The exhibition ”Help!“ was curated in the spirit of the time after October 7, 2023, and vividly conveys feelings of discomfiture and suffocation. It’s surprising that it did so by means of works that were acquired over many years and created in different periods and in the shadow of disparate events. Despite these disparities, or perhaps precisely because of them, the choice of works and their placement together succeed in articulating well the here-and-now. The works were seemingly called upon to assemble and serve as testimony to a tragic process of rolling disaster that has brought us to this pass. Each work is a jewel in its own right: the encounter with each jolts us, but also glitters, together evoking the light of the beauty and consolation of art.
